Notes & Combos
BLS pretty much shows one of the main problems with Duel Links at the moment. Sadly, decks that are carried by broken anime skills are just simply what the game has become. But instead of complaining about it... I figured I'd make the best of it.
I really didn't want to play BLS at first, so I tried lower tier decks for a while, including the Gandora deck I KOG'd with last season. I wasn't having much success, so I finally bit the bullet and started climbing with this list, which I believe got top 8 in a community tournament (shoutouts to Skull for the majority of the list). This is the first time I've piloted a Tier 1 deck in a while, and I firmly believe this specific list is one of the best for the ladder.
I tried building this deck on my own for a while, which included techs and alternate options I will outline below (as well as some tips):
- Treacherous Trap Hole + Lost Wind: The synergy between these two cards is incredible. I was skeptical about Lost Wind at first, but this card is awesome. Having it recycle itself gives it great synergy with Treacherous.
- Vahram: I noticed some lists that aren't playing this, but I think Vahram is really good. It saves you when you get Dweller'd or GY gets banished (Ruddy Rose can't stop this), as well as some random rogue matchups such as Lunalight. There were some Duels where I won even if I couldn't even summon a BLS monster, and all of them were carried by Vahram. I've included some hilarious replays showing this in action.
- Warning Point/other Traps: There were several games in which I wished had Warning Point over the other techs, but the problem with running too many traps is potentially bricking going second and getting killed through your backrow.
- Ice Dragon's Prison: IF YOU ARE PLAYING ON LADDER, DO NOT PLAY THIS CARD. Due to the Skill restricting your Summons, IDP is only good against the mirror matchup. I learned this the hard way by trying it myself, and finding it completely useless.
- Enemy Controller: E-Con is ******* insane. It steals games like no other card. I do think Treacherous is just a bit stronger, but I'd definitely use this card as a Side Deck option in tournaments.
- Cosmic Cyclone: I believe this card is better than MST in the current meta. At the time of me climbing, there was a lot of Toon and Orcust. Cyclone gets around their protection effects.
